Multiple Teams · OHSAA Officially Cancels Spring Sports Season; No-Contact Remains in Effect

On Monday, April 20th, Governor DeWine announced that schools will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year due to the coronavirus COVID-19.  The OHSAA had previously stated that no face-to-face school meant no spring sports.  The OHSAA subsequently announced that the spring sports seasons are now officially canceled.  Additionally, the OHSAA stated that the no-contact period for all interscholastic sports would remain in effect until at least May 3rd.  Read the full OHSAA release here.

While this announcement was expected, it is crushing for our high school lacrosse, rowing, softball, and track & field student-athletes, coaches, and families.  We all were looking forward to a competitive and fun spring sports season and we are sad that this won’t happen.  We are especially sad for our spring sports seniors.  We will still recognize our spring sports seniors and that info will be sent out in the coming days.

Though this is difficult, we need to remember that these tough decisions are being made with everyone’s health in mind.  Additionally, Notre Dame Academy students and coaches are resilient.  We will get through this and our underclasswomen and coaches will be back!  This is just a bump in the road for our seniors and they are Bold, Brilliant, Beautiful, and Blessed and will go on to do great things!

Stay healthy, stay home, wash your hands, and Go Eagles!
